Meet the traffic team
The company currently employs a large number of full and part-time staff across the UK. At the beginning of each survey, the client will be allocated a Project Manager and also an alternative second contact to ensure that all queries or requests can be actioned promptly.
SMS has excellent staff retention levels, the benefit of this to clients is that they will be allocated a Project Manager who will have many years of Traffic Surveying experience.
Within our team certain Project Managers bring their own core skills but our culture is one of cross category learnings, resulting in seamless transition from one project to the next.

Michael Cordingley
Head of Traffic Data CollectionMichael has over 28 years in the Traffic Data Collection Business and is well known throughout the industry. Having been trained by the then Tyne & Wear Transportation Unit. Michael then moved on setting up the Traffic Survey department within Survey & Marketing Services Ltd.

Associate Director & Head of Automatic Traffic Data CollectionAfter studying Architecture at Birmingham University James joined the Traffic Department in 1991, and then later becoming the head of Automatic Traffic Data Collection.

Andrew Douglas
Traffic Manager & Head of Technical DevelopmentHaving recently joined the company in 2008 bringing with him a wide range of skills, Andrew has found a place firmly within the company. He holds numerous Electronic qualifications and a huge expertise in mapping and navigation being a mountaineering instructor for the MOD.
